John Barnes

John was until 2015, Head of Local Delivery at the Food Standards Agency where he was responsible for ensuring effective food safety controls were being delivered by local authorities and for relevant statutory enforcementand industry guidance. John is currently a Director at Enmoore Ltd, Strategic Advisor to Shield Safety Group and a visiting lecturer in food safety at the University of Birmingham. An EHO by profession, Johnhas extensive experience negotiating and implementing EU food law and chairing national and international meetings on food safety controls. John was a member of the FSA Senior Management Team, part of theFSA team leading on the handling of the 2013 Horsemeat Incidentand responsible for establishing theFSA’s Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS). In 2015 John was awarded an Honorary Fellowship to The Society of Food Hygiene Technology (SOFHT) for his exceptional contribution to food hygiene and safety.
